Richfield Springs, NY

Its location makes it the perfect spot to stop before entering Cooperstown.  Canadarago Lake, just a mile south of the village, is the home of a state of the art boat launch site with ample trailer parking. Canadarago Lake is known as the second cleanest lake in NYS. It is seven miles long and two miles wide at its widest point. Deowongo Island in the center of the lake is owned by the Otsego County Land Trust and is a great place to picnic and explore.

Here are a few annual event highlights of the Richfield Springs Village:

  • The Farmer's Market in Spring Park at the center of town next to the historic bandstand and clock on Thursdays-4 PM-6 PM; Saturdays- 9 AM-1 PM. The Market features local farmers offering vegetables, organic meats, dairy products, herbs, and flowers. Locally harvested honey, soaps, and farm-related crafts are also included. A local musician plays guitar and food/donations for the local food bank are collected. There also is a public restroom available.
  • The Summer Concert Series are Wednesdays in Spring Park from the end of June through the last Wednesday in August featuring a variety of music styles. The inaugural concert is historically the Glimmerglass Young Artists with Francesca Zambello, artistic director giving an overview of the upcoming season. Concerts start at 7 PM. Bring your own chair or blanket and enjoy a relaxing evening of music in Richfield Springs' historic park.
  • The Richfield Springs Food Co-op at 140 West Main Street is open daily from 7 AM- 5 PM. Locally brewed specially blended coffee and homemade sandwiches, soups, and baked goods are offered. A variety of crafts and a high-speed Wi-Fi connection makes this the perfect place to stop and relax.

The village is situated on Canadarago Lake, a premier fishing resource with ample NYS DEC access. The lake is dotted with ice shanties all winter.

Baker's Beach is located on the western shore of Canadarago Lake, and is open to the public for swimming and picnicking all summer.

Once home to grand hotels and guest houses, seven trains of visitors arrived daily to enjoy the health benefits of Richfield's sulfur springs.

The Richfield Springs Historical Society Museum is located at 134 Main Street and houses artifacts and historical information about the village and its past. Richfield boasts a large number of antique and craft stores.
