Cooperstown, N.Y. – Destination Marketing Corporation for Otsego County (DMCOC), a destination marketing organization that represents Cooperstown and Otsego County, was awarded a 2019 Tourism Excellence Award presented by the New York State Tourism Industry Association (NYSTIA) at its annual meeting held in Auburn, NY.
NYSTIA recognizes leaders in New York State’s tourism industry who achieved a high level of excellence and accomplishment at the Tourism Excellence Awards. Winners were selected from nominated organizations that have demonstrated commitment, leadership and accomplishment in the travel and tourism sector.
DMCOC and its marketing agency, BBG&G Advertising, were recognized in the “Excellence in Overall Tourism Marketing” category for the entirety of the DMCOC’s 2018 marketing campaign, which included: traditional and digital advertising; website design, content, and maintenance; marketing automation and newsletters; public relations and social media; travel guide production; the development of a local partner program; and more.
“We’re honored to receive this award, and even more grateful for the recognition from our own industry in New York State,” said Cassandra Harrington, Executive Director of DMCOC. “We’ve made great strides in the past couple of years to increase tourism in Cooperstown and Otsego County, and we’ve set the groundwork for much more to come.”
The DMCOC actively promotes and markets Otsego County for the purpose of encouraging overnight visitation, thus contributing to the economic impact of tourism through the generation of occupancy tax revenues. For more information, contact Harrington at (607) 322-4046 or info@ThisIsCooperstown.com.
