(Cooperstown, NY) – Philadelphia residents may soon see cars on the city streets wrapped in oversized ads promoting a visit to Cooperstown and Otsego County. Through a new partnership with Carvertise, the Destination Marketing Corporation for Otsego County (DMCOC) has launched an experimental marketing campaign.
Through November 23rd, select Uber cars will be outfitted with customized artwork. The goal is to generate a large volume of visual impressions throughout Philadelphia, a target market for potential visitors to the Cooperstown area. Carvertise hires ride-share drivers with high volume trips and clean records to serve as ambassadors for brands like Otsego County.
“We’re always on the lookout for creative ways to break through the white noise of advertising,” says Cassandra Harrington, Executive Director of the DMCOC. “This campaign is effective on its own, but also complements other components of our marketing strategy.”
The current tourism marketing campaign for Cooperstown and Otsego County utilizes variations of the slogan “Catch me in Cooperstown.” The car ad promotion will be supplemented and supported by a “Catch Me on the Streets” social media campaign encouraging people in Philadelphia to take and submit photos of themselves with the Cooperstown-decorated cars.
The contest – which will run on the “This is Cooperstown” Facebook page through October – will award one grand prize winner a trip for two to Cooperstown, with accommodations provided by CooperstownLuxury.com.
The DMCOC actively promotes and markets Otsego County for the purpose of encouraging overnight visitation, thus contributing to the economic impact of tourism through the generation of occupancy tax revenues. For more information, contact Harrington at (607) 322-4046 or info@ThisIsCooperstown.com.
